JOB SUMMARY

WDH provides extensive services in Invasive Cardiology, Vascular and Electrophysiology procedures and features a newly renovated Cath lab expanding those service capabilities. Performing over 400 coronary interventions per year, including coronary atherectomy and lithotripsy. WDH continues to grow and innovate within the field of Cardiology, Vascular and Electrophysiology interventions across the seacoast and Southern Maine. 

·Cardiovascular Service requirements:Technological management/competency-uses technical equipment and devices to monitor patient condition.Proficient in the execution of computer systems and various software programs.Will be expected to assist providers in non-imaging procedures and monitor invasive procedures with hemodynamic monitoring and procedural documentation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Assists in preparing for procedure by gathering necessary equipment and opening supplies, maintaining aseptic technique

2. Assists with patient positioning and transfer

3. Assists in placement of monitoring devices

4. Assists to prepare procedural access site including hair clipping and sterile skin preparation

5. Understands time-out process

6. Uses technological equipment and devices to monitor patient condition, communicating in a clear and concise manner as appropriate and possess ability to recognize compromised hemodynamic states and informs physician immediately

7. Circulates the room and is able to anticipate next steps in the procedure providing scrub tech necessary supplies and supporting nurses tasks

8. Ensures documentation of vital signs and pertinent data during procedure by communicating with nurse, physician, and technologists and are entered in the clinical record (i.e. mallampati, ASA, time out)

9. Accesses laboratory data and communicates all pertinent information to nurse/physician before, during, and after procedure

10. Collaborates with other modalities to include but are not limited to application of monitors (holter, Zio patch), EKG’s, monitoring patients in the holding area

11. Documentation - collects and files pertinent patient data in a clinical record/procedure computer

12. Familiarity to the function of the following

a.EKG recorder and/or monitoring

b.Defibrillator

c.Vital Signs monitor

d.Capnography

e.IVUS/FFR/IFR/OCT

f.Holter monitor

g.Phone, fax, copier, computer, disc creation, PowerShare

h.Supplies management

13. Reduce stimuli that may induce bleeding or hemorrhage with at risk patients

14. Understanding of proper protection for occupational radiation exposure, and PPE

15. Able to detect and assist with patients at risk for shock

17. Assists in emergency measures to sustain life and is knowledgeable of various methods of assistance i.e. Rapid Response, Code Blue.

18. Sheath access device management – maintains knowledge of venous and arterial sheath devices/or manual assistance and is knowledgeable of complications

19. Assists in reduced room turnover times to expedite the patient schedule. Uses idle time to the advantage of the department.

20. Assists in holding room sterile procedures including but not limited to Tunnel Dialysis removals/Loop implant/explants

Qualifications

SPECIFICATIONS

·Experience Minimum Required

·Minimum of 6 months within the healthcare field.

·Knowledge of EKG monitoring and non-invasive Hemodynamics including BP, O2 and ETCO2

·A working knowledge of cardiovascular system and its functions

·Experience Preferred/Desired

·Cardiovascular Experience

·Stress Lab experience

·EMT/Paramedic

·Education Minimum Required

·High School Graduate

·Actively enrolled in a graduate of a certificate or degree granting program or post-secondary educational program in health sciences (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory, nursing or paramedic/EMT)

·Education Preferred/Desired

·A graduate of a certificate or degree granting program or post-secondary educational program in health sciences (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory, nursing or paramedic/EMT)

·Training Minimum Required

·Working knowledge of Cardiovascular Cath lab and essential functions

·Special Skills Minimum Required

·Computer manipulation, verbal and written communication skills, mechanical attitude.

·Ability to work in a collaborative manner.

·Make effective judgments and decisions based on objective criteria

·BLS (upon hire)

·ACLS within 6 months of hire
